Inspiring and Romantic Wedding Flowers for Small Weddings

February 26, 2024

Flowers are the perfect way to inject your personality and character into a small wedding. We absolutely love small weddings for this very reason. Our small wedding clients always have big ideas for their weddings, which makes every single one unique and a pleasure to cater for.

Many couples that contact us aren’t really sure what they want - they might have a general idea, but they need help to choose a specific style, colour, or flowers. During our wedding flowers consultation, we help clients to figure out what flowers they like and exactly how we’re going to style them. During this process couples usually find it helpful to look at our Instagram page for ideas.

Tonya and her partner were a pleasure to work with. They knew they wanted something unusual, they told us they love wild and natural flowers in vibrant colours but weren’t sure exactly how this should look. After browsing through our instagram page they spotted a wonderful orange and cerise colour combination that they were instantly attracted to, and this helped us to guide them in terms of flower choice.

For their large bridal bouquet and table decoration, we agreed upon a fabulous selection of romantic blooms in a variety of shades of pink; roses, lisianthus, hydrangea, snapdragons, and peonies. Combined with some classics in vibrant orange; gerbera, carnations, and spray roses. We added some exotic leucospermum for that unusual edge, a sprinkling of white lisianthus and confetti-like mimosa to freshen the colour palette, and we used a wide variety of foliage, heavy on silvery green eucalyptus.

They also ordered a corsage, which we formed from roses in a pretty blush pink, purple and white mimosa, and a selection of greenery, and a buttonhole, featuring two peachy roses, along with the same mimosa and greenery combination.

Mary was also a great client, she was very clear from the beginning that she wanted a non traditional bouquet, based on wildflowers, featuring some blue amongst other colours. During her consultation we went through some options and she decided on a bridal bouquet, 3 bridesmaid bouquets, 1 buttonhole for the groom, and 2 for the groomsmen.

You can see her bouquet featured here, an informal wildflower bouquet with a base of pale green foliage, cute tanacetum, and pastel pink wax, with a few pops of bright colour - rich orange carthamus and cornflower blue delphiniums. Behind the bouquet you’ll see the groom’s buttonhole featuring the same blue delphiniums, tanacetum, and wax with a little greenery as a base.

Other clients know straight away what they want - they might have a colour scheme or style in mind or perhaps specific flowers. Martina was very clear about what she wanted right from the start. For her, it was all about simplicity. She wanted small, discreet bouquets, with lots of fresh white flowers and a little bit of greenery to match the white and green colour scheme at her wedding.

White flowers were very popular for weddings in 2023, and Martina’s flowers of choice were romantic lisianthus, delicate roses, agapanthus, astilbe, and cute september flower. The simplicity of the flowers combined beautifully with her elegant dress and veil.

Martina requested a bridal bouquet, a bridesmaid bouquet, several bouquets for the flower girls, and several buttonholes. We think she and her husband look fabulous in this romantic picture!

Ellen also had very specific ideas for her wedding flowers. She wasn’t interested in traditional wedding styles and standard flowers like roses. Instead, she wanted something very original, in a natural and earthy style, featuring unusual flowers in a very dark palette, for an almost gothic look to compliment her unique dark wedding dress.

Her bridal bouquet was mainly formed from leucadendron, skimmia, and carnations in a rich bordeaux and forest green, and the buttonholes featured green carnations, leucadendron, and dark helichrysums with lots of foliage.

Ellen also ordered a selection of small and one large table arrangements, based on a generous backdrop of dark green, foliage including fern, eucalyptus, leucadendron, and cordyline, combined with fabulous calla lilies in a dark purple and thistles for texture, with added hints of creamy beige for contrast, including anemone and cosmos. We just adored her distinctive style, it was a pleasure catering to such a unique wedding!
